How it works

When you visit Harnett County to complete your Challenge miles, don’t forget to log your activity on our event page at runsignup.com. When you submit your results and log your activity, make sure to add in the comment section that you completed a trail or paddle at a preferred County Trek Spot!! This will make you eligible to win the top spot for Most Adventurous Challenger, given to the individual who travels to the most County Trek Spots across the state!

For a 3 mile paddle, put in at the Cape Fear Shiner Park access and take out at the Lillington Wildlife boat ramp (Wildlife Rd, Lillington, NC),

For an 11-mile paddle, put in at the Cape Fear Shiner Park access and take out at the Cape Fear River Trail access (1002 S. 13th St, Erwin, NC)

More Info on Raven Rock State Park Bike Trails: This is the beginner loop of Raven Rock’s mountain bike trail system, which is named for the abundant thickets of mountain laurel present along the trail. As you ride through the woods, you will cross numerous bridges; pass between stands of pines and mixed hardwoods; and traverse a restored forest. More experienced riders have the option of lengthening their rides by taking the intermediate or advanced loops, both of which veer off the beginner loop.

Dunn Erwin rail trail

Address: 3 access points for trail Parking

(1) Intersection of Ashe Ave and Powell St in Dunn, NC

(2) Intersection of East H St and S 13th St, in Downtown Erwin, NC

(3) Cape Fear River Trail Park (1002 S. 13th St, Erwin, NC)  

About The Trail: The Dunn-Erwin Rail-Trail traverses 5.3 miles of the Aberdeen and Rockfish (previously Durham & Southern Railway) corridor in Harnett County, North Carolina. It connects the downtown areas of Dunn and Erwin, coursing through the suburbs, light industrial areas and cotton fields, crossing the Black River and wetlands.
