2020 Uwharrie Half Hike

*UPDATE*

Due to the threat of COVID-19, we have postponed the Half Hike until next year.

Hello hikers!

We hope you are all doing well, and that you are finding opportunities to get outside and spend some time in nature.  We wanted to provide an update on our annual Uwharrie Trail Half Hike event.

After looking at all of the possible scenarios and options, we have made the decision to cancel the event for this year.

This was not a decision that we came to lightly, and there are a variety of reasons for this:

-Logistics of group transportation to and from locations

-Continued closure of campgrounds and locations for bathroom facilities

-The factor of heat if the event were to be rescheduled for the summer

-Schedule conflicts if the event were to be rescheduled for the fall

We are obviously disappointed, but certainly appreciate all of your interest and enthusiasm, and continued desire to support local conservation and engage with the outdoors.

That being said, we would like to offer a few options in regards to your event fees:

  1. We can hold your spot as a reservation until next year’s Half Hike, which will be occurring in April.
  2. We can consider your fee as a donation and put it to work on some of our conservation projects.
  3. We can offer a full refund of ticket price.

Please feel free to reach out and let us know what you would prefer, or if you have any additional questions.

Have you heard of the Uwharrie Trail?

At 40 miles, it is the longest single-track footpath in central North Carolina. Three Rivers Land Trust and other conservation partners have been working for the past 20 years to reconnect this trail, and thanks to these efforts it can now be hiked in its 40-mile entirety. This Uwharrie Trail is known for its cultural and natural significance, including such unique features as old gold mines, rare plants and wildlife, ghost stories, and more. Join us for an awesome backpacking trip through some of the oldest mountains in the world, as we pay tribute to the trailblazers and uncover the secrets of the past.

We look forward to seeing you at the trail!
