When you visit Richmond County to complete your Challenge miles, don’t forget to log your activity on our event page at runsignup.com. When you submit your results and log your activity, make sure to add in the comment section that you completed a trail or paddle at a preferred County Trek Spot!! This will make you eligible to win the top spot for Most Adventurous Challenger, given to the individual who travels to the most County Trek Spots across the state!

More about the Hitchcock Creek Blue Trail: The 14-mile Hitchcock Creek Blue Trail starts in Rockingham and offers paddlers an opportunity to learn about the area’s unique natural places and history. Diverse floodplain forests, remnants of historic mills, and rare plants and animals all call the creek home.

The Sandhills Gamelands is a large nature reserve located in the northeastern sector of Richmond County that offers over 14 miles of hiking trails. Its 60,000-acre preserve is known as one of the best examples of the long-leaf pine habitat in the United States. Visitors are encouraged to stop by the headquarters located on the west side of U.S. Hwy 1 just south of Hoffman for viewing advice.
