How it works
When you visit Moore County to complete your Challenge miles, don’t forget to log your activity on our event page at runsignup.com. When you submit your results and log your activity, make sure to add in the comment section that you completed a trail or paddle at a preferred County Trek Spot! This will make you eligible to win the top spot for Most Adventurous Challenger, given to the individual who travels to the most County Trek Spots across the state!

bear creek paddle trail

For a 3.6 mile paddle, put in at the Hwy 705 access and take out at Reynolds Mill Rd. access. For a full list of paddling options on Bear Creek, click here.
The Bear Creek Trail System is over 8 miles of trails located along scenic Bear and Cabin Creeks. Map kiosks at intersections and the main trail heads provide info on different loop hikes, distances and difficulty. Start your hike at the Elise or Water Plant Trail Heads. Follow the “Super Loop” arrows for a 6.5 mile hike involving all trails in the system. To see a map of these trails, click here.
RESERVOIR park trail system

Details: Explore 12 miles of hard- packed sand trails, including a 2-mile scenic reservoir loop and a 3-mile Mill Creek loop, all part of the Southern Pines Greenway Trail System.

Weymouth woods sandhills nature preserve

More Info: If you start your hike at the Weymouth Woods Sandhills Nature Preserve (4 miles) and continue your across E. Connecticut Rd. to the Boyd Tract trails, you can extend your hike another 1.5 miles by starting on the equestrian trails off of Connecticut Rd, then hopping over and finishing on the Boyd Tract hiking trails.
