How it works
When you visit Montgomery County to complete your Challenge miles, don’t forget to log your activity on our event page at runsignup.com. When you submit your results and log your activity, make sure to add in the comment section that you completed a trail or paddle at a preferred County Trek Spot!! This will make you eligible to win the top spot for Most Adventurous Challenger, given to the individual who travels to the most County Trek Spots across the state!

Uwharrie River: Low water Bridge

Details: This nearly 7 mile float on the Uwharrie River is great for a relaxing, easy going trip. A lot of work has been completed in the last few years to make this very paddle friendly.
Put in at the bridge on Low Water Bridge Rd. There is parking available here and a paved sidewalk to the river. This area is quite shallow here, so you may have to strategically maneuver your put in to get going.
There are a few Class I rapids on this trip, but overall, the paddle is very easy, and is a good first time paddle.
Woodrun Mtn. Bike trail
Starting Spot: Wood Run Trailhead on NC 24/27.

Details: The Wood Run Mountain Bike Trail system offers 22 miles of trails. Park at the Wood Run Trailhead on NC24/27 between Troy and Albemarle. It is 10 miles west of Troy and two miles east of the Tillery Bridge, unload, then enjoy the leisurely pace of Wood Run Road as you prepare to take on the rough and rocky Keyauwee and Supertree Trails.
Wood Run Road
11 miles. Easy. The gated and graveled road heads north from the parking lot. Round trip is approximately 11 miles.
Supertree Trail
5 miles. Easy to Moderate. Connects to Wood Run Road 1.75 miles in. Supertree is 5 miles long. Ride this loop clockwise for more single track downhill. Marked with double white blazes.
Keyauee Trail
6 miles. More Difficult. Connects to Wood Run Road 2.6 miles in. Ride this loop counterclockwise for more single track downhill. Marked with double white blazes.
Uwharrie Trail from Jumping off Rock

Details: Uwharrie Trail from Jumping Off Rock is a 8.4 mile lightly trafficked out and back trail located near Troy, North Carolina, that features a river and is rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for hiking, nature trips, and backpacking and is best used from March through November.
