How it works
When you visit Iredell County to complete your Challenge miles, don’t forget to log your activity on our event page at runsignup.com. When you submit your results and log your activity, make sure to add in the comment section that you completed a trail or paddle at a preferred County Trek Spot!! This will make you eligible to win the top spot for Most Adventurous Challenger, given to the individual who travels to the most County Trek Spots across the state!

Stumpy Creek Boat Landing

From the boat launch area of Stumpy Creek Park, paddlers can launch on to Lake Norman and have immediate access to 500 miles of shoreline.
More Information on Stumpy Creek Park: This 83-acre park features boat launching and docks, a playground, picnic shelters, and a disc golf course.
Lake Norman State Park
Starting Spot: 759 State Park Rd, Troutman, NC 28166

Details: With over 30 miles of trail overall, there are a variety of shorter loops as options for all skill levels. We recommend the Hawk Loop of the Ituzi Trail system for beginners, and the Laurel Loop for something more advanced.
More Info on Lake Norman State Park: Lake Norman State Park, on the largest manmade lake in North Carolina, boasts one of the region’s more popular mountain biking network, offering 30.5 miles of single-track trail. Nearby are a 125-yard-long swim beach and bathhouse complex as well as a boat ramp and opportunities for fishing from spots along park trails. Free interpretive programs are complemented by educational exhibits throughout the visitor center and along the child-friendly Dragonfly Trail.
bigleaf slopes park

About Bigleaf Slopes Park: Check out 4.5 miles of multi-use trail (bikes & hiking trail). The Blue Main loop is 3.5 miles and the Orange loop 1 mile. There is also an open-air changing stall, handicap accessible portable toilet and Bike Repair Station.

Mazeppa Park

About Mazeppa Park: Mazeppa Park is a newly built park and offers a lot of recreational opportunities. There are 2 miles of paved walking trails, as well as nearly 5 miles of natural surface mountain biking/hiking/running trails.
