Davidson county trek spots

How it works

When you visit Davidson County to complete your Challenge miles, don’t forget to log your activity on our event page at runsignup.com. When you submit your results and log your activity, make sure to add in the comment section that you completed a trail or paddle at a preferred County Trek Spot!! This will make you eligible to win the top spot for Most Adventurous Challenger, given to the individual who travels to the most County Trek Spots across the state!

Boone’s  Cave to Yadkin River Park

Address: 3552 Boones Cave Rd, Lexington, NC 27295

GPS Coordinates: Put in: Boone’s Cave 35.79937″N, -80.46724″W, Take out: Yadkin River Park 35.72413″N, -80.39033″W

Approximately at 9.5 mile paddle trip,  this section of the Yadkin River is included on the Daniel Boone Heritage Canoe Trail. You can find more here! The Yadkin River Park take out is new and will be before you reach the York Hill Boat Landing.

Details: At Boone’s Cave there is a canoe/kayak access trail from the parking lot to the river. If you are going to leave a a vehicle at the park while canoeing or kayaking, you must get a parking pass and park in the designated area. Please talk to park staff before unloading.

Finch Park

Starting Spot: 15 Paul Beck Rd, Lexington, NC 27292

GPS Coordinates: 35.80937”N, -80.22595”W

Details: Parking for the trailhead is immediately on the right as you come in the main area of the park near the trail map.The trail is scenic, weaving through large hardwood trees, crossing streams, and passing between Abbott’s Creek and Finch Pond. Behind the pond, the trail leads to a 50 foot overlook of the bending Abbott’s Creek below The various skill level sections offer an enjoyable ride for all levels of experience.

Ridge cycle hub

Starting Spot: 1441 Ridge Rd, Lexington, NC 27295

Details: The Ridge Cycle Hub is North Carolina’s newest mountain bike park set to open summer 2021 in Davidson County, North Carolina. Located just outside of the City of Lexington, this 95 acre project is a volunteer built bike and hike facility made possible through a partnership with the City of Lexington Government, The Tourism Recreation Investment Partnership for Davidson County Foundation, and The Roadies and Dirties Cycling Club.

Boone’s Cave park

Address: 3552 Boones Cave Rd, Lexington, NC 27295

GPS Coordinates: 35.79937″N, -80.46724″W

Details: This park is over 100 acres and offers hiking trails through a secluded rolling forest of mixed hardwoods reminiscent of the North Carolina mountains. Fortysix acres of the park are designated as a Natural Heritage Site and are host to a number of wildflowers and trees normally found only in the Appalachian Mountains. There are nearly four miles of hiking trails for you to choose from. Make sure to document which trails you treked and how many miles!
