2024 Fort York Hike

Join us for a hike at the Fort York Historic Site!
Hikers will meet at the Yadkin River Park at 1212 Wilcox Way, Linwood, NC 27299
This event will feature a historical presentation about the site and its history from Lee Crook, Zoning Adminstrator for Davidson County.
This site is known as being the location of one of the last major Confederate victories in the Civil War, although the skirmish that occurred there happened 3 days after General Lee’s Surrender at Appomattox. The Fort was built by hand in 1863 or 1864 to protect the important railroad bridge crossing the Yadkin River. This railroad crossing provided vital supplies to not just the Salisbury area, but all points south as well.
