The LandTrust is delighted to present the “Nature Inspires” Art Contest Reception! Please join us on January 21 beginning at 6pm at the Salisbury Business Center in downtown Salisbury at 301 S. Main St.

In partnership with the Rowan-Salisbury School System, The LandTrust sponsored the “Nature Inspires” Art Contest during the fall semester of 2015. This art contest was designed to let students express how nature inspires them, encourage them and their families to explore and enjoy the nature around them, and increase awareness about conservation in the central Piedmont region. The art contest was open to high school art students in the Rowan-Salisbury School District.

In honor of the students’ efforts and The LandTrust’s 20th anniversary of saving the places you love, we are hosting a gallery viewing, reception, and talk with special guest Jay Leutze on the evening of January 21.

jayJay Leutze is a well-known author and conservationist. His novel Stand Up That Mountain is the true story of a small mountain town’s efforts to stop a mining company from destroying a fragile wild place along the Appalachian Trail. Jay is now a Trustee for the Southern Appalachian Highlands Conservancy and a national spokesman for the Land and Water Conservation Fund.

The reception and gallery viewing will begin at 6pm and Mr. Leutze will speak at 7pm. The public is welcome. We hope to see you there!

The submissions to the “Nature Inspires” Art Contest are being displayed at the Salisbury Business Center from December 1 to January 25.
