The Sloop Farm was protected via conservation easement in January of 2001. The 17 acre property serves as one of the last agricultural tracts located within the Salisbury City Limits. It has long been appreciated as a scenic break from the urban landscape quickly encroaching upon it. The Sloop Farm will eventually be donated to Catawba College where it is expected to become an outdoor laboratory for students and faculty. The Farm is also an important part of the Grant’s Creek Project, as it provides 900 feet of riparian buffer.
