The LandTrust for Central North Carolina is partnering with our friends and new neighbors at New Sarum Brewing Company, conveniently located on Depot St next door to our Salisbury office innew sarum 2 the Gateway building, for their grand opening on April 16th from 1:30 PM until about 9 PM.

The folks at New Sarum Brewing get it.  The LandTrust has worked to protect over 1,000 acres on the Yadkin River, immediately adjacent to the in-take facility that supplies drinking water to Salisbury and parts of Rowan County. The narrow sliver of land between the South Yadkin and Yadkin Rivers is affectionately known as “The Point” – a permanently protected open space. This conserved property helps provide clean water for municipal consumption and, of course, for making good beer!

Shakerag BBQ will be on hand to prepare wood-smoked, North Carolina-style BBQ as a fundraiser for The LandTrust.  Pitmaster Seth Morris, a former LandTrust intern and current UNC-Chapel Hill law student, practices the fine art of traditional, slow roasting locally-sourced pork over firewood coals from hickory and oak. It is good stuff!

In addition to great food and local brew, the grand opening event will feature a line-up of several bands and tours of the impressive brewery facility. Make plans to stop by and have a cold one and some ‘cue to benefit The LandTrust!

If you would like to volunteer to help us talk up the LandTrust (and get some barbecue out of the deal!) please sign up here or email Alicia at alicia@landtrustcnc.org.
