Explore Fred Stanback Jr. Ecological Preserve at Catawba College

Primary Route: Hike the trail at Fred Stanback Jr. Ecological Preserve and see the lake
Hiking Distance: ~1 mile
Elevation Gain: Unknown
Difficulty: Easy
Trailhead: The trailhead is located at Catawba College in Salisbury, behind Keppel Auditorium and the Center of the Environment (near 2300 West Innes Street). Parking might be limited if there is a large event being held at Catawba College.

Hiking Directions: Close to the sign for the Preserve at the trailhead, the trail splits in two. Take the left path (the right may be a service road). Information plates along the trail will identify varying plants and trees. Eventually the trail splits and circles a lake. After walking around the lake, return on the same path to the trail entrance.

Additional Information: There are a number of steps along this trail which might make it difficult for some to walk the length of the path, but those who have trouble with stairs can still enjoy the upper part of the trail. Look here for more information on the Preserve, and additional trail maps.
