Swim in Barnes Creek near Jumping Off Rock

There is a large swimming hole in Barnes Creek just above the confluence of Poison Fork and Barnes Creek. It is located 0.3 miles west of the Jumping Off Rock Trailhead. Pets are not allowed in National Forest swimming areas.

Parking

Option 1: Near 2410 Flint Hill Road, Troy, NC. Click here for directions from the beginning of Ophir Road on NC 109 to the Jumping Off Rock/Dark Mountain Trailhead. When coming from NC 109, the trailhead will be on the right side of Flint Hill Road. There is off-road parking at Jumping Off Rock Trailhead (also known as Dark Mountain Trailhead), the northernmost trailhead for the Uwharrie Trail. Option 2:  There is a pulloff on the south side of Flint Hill Road with a short trail leading to the swimming hole in Barnes Creek just above the confluence of these two creeks.
